Staying Healthy On 4th of July Weekend! Is it POSSIBLE?!

YES!! You can still enjoy stay healthy on a holiday and still enjoy yourself! You just gotta be prepared!

Now you already know with a clean eating lifestyle, you don't have to be perfect all the time. Remember to follow the 80/20, it's all about having balance so that you can still enjoy yourself and be realistic! Feeling deprived and restricted because you're thinking you're NEVER gonna be able to eat that ever again, but that's not the case. Because when you get to that point, most of the times you end up just giving up and going overboard and then just quit. So if you think to yourself, I'll be good for 80% of the time and use the 20% of the time to indulge once in a while, you're good to go!

So here are my tips for staying healthy through this 4th of July Weekend!

1) SCHEDULE OUT YOUR CHEAT MEAL FOR THE WEEK!
So usually for me, when I do my meal planning, I do them every Sunday. I think ahead to any events, activities, things that will bring me out and I have to look ahead at menus. Or for this week, I saw that 4th of July was coming up and I asked my husband if we had any plans. He said yes and so I already knew, that was the time I was going to schedule out my cheat meal.
So for you, 4th of July is usually associated with family and BBQs right? Is there something that you always gotta have for 4th of July... maybe some dessert or something special your mom and aunt always makes but it's not so clean. Schedule it in for you to have that day! No biggie! Our bodies need cheat meal to to mix up the metabolism a bit, so all your progress will not go away from 1 cheat meal. Now I wouldn't suggest going to overboard that you feel so stuffed and feel like throwing up. NO no no! Eat til your satisfied haha.

2) DON'T SKIP YOUR SCHEDULED WORKOUT!
BUT... just because it's a holiday AND you're planning on having your cheat meal, it doesn't give you a break from workouts either. Still do your scheduled workout as planned and you'll be fine.

3) TAKE A HEALTHY DISH TO BRING WITH YOU!
This is a way to contribute to the party that you are going to and still being able to have a healthy option for you to eat! Usually when you have BBQs anyways, it's outside, it's hot and having cold sweet juicy fruit is what everybody tends to crave when they are hot anyways. So this will sure to be a hit at the party, and you don't need to feel so isolated with the only one eating so healthy!
This is also for you guys that have more than 1 party to go to this weekend. Yea, I know there were some people thinking to themselves, "well what if i have more than 1 event during this holiday weekend to go to? I can't have a cheat meal for each event!" Duh no you can't have a cheat meal for each event. But that's why you plan ahead like step #1 says and choose out when your cheat meal will be. Then just for the other events, offer to bring a healthy dish so that you'll have something there.

4) STILL FOLLOW YOUR CLEAN EATING SCHEDULE (eating every 2-3hours)!
Just because you know you're going to have your cheat meal and go to a party and have fun, doesn't mean you change up your eating schedule. Still follow that every 2-3 hours eating schedule so that you're not so ravenous and starving that you want to eat everything in sight. NOPE... bad idea! Eat the same way leading up to that party and cheat meal, so that your cheat meal isn't soooo horrible either. You'll thank yourself later... TRUST ME!

5) DON'T FORGET TO STAY HYDRATED!
Remember I follow the rule of drinking at least half of you body weight in ounces... more if you work out and sweat lots! So for those of you having those outdoor BBQs and it's hot and you're sweating.... drink more than your usual! Also because usually when you have cheat meals too, it's a bit higher in sodium so you're gonna want more water to flush out the nastiness in your body as well. And if you're trying to not indulge too much, water can help keep you more full!
