P90X3 Day 1 NEW CHALLENGE!!

Alright!!! I've finished T25 Alpha, Beta and Gamma. I just finished the 3 Day Shakeology Cleanse and I am ready to start my next challenge called P90X3! So to learn more about this program click on p90x3 as it is linked to my other blog explaining what it is. But basically this is a 90 Day Challenge so I should be done in July :-)

So there were 4 different programs to follow within the P90x3 program. I chose the Mass Schedule because I felt that I got a little too tiny for my liking from completing T25. I did like how I was able to cut a lot of fat but now I wanted to gain some muscles. I've always liked girls that were strong and you can see those definitions in their muscles without flexing much. That is my ideal body. Of course some women HATE women with muscles but whatever your fitspiration is, that is your opinion.

My 1st ever Beachbody program that I owned was actually the original P90X, however I never completed it. I probably finished the 1st month ok but I don't even remember if I followed the schedule. I know I didn't even have a pull up bar but I did what I could. I remembered the workouts being about an hour long but the one workout that stuck out was yoga X because it was 90 minutes! eeks! BUT this time, P90x3 is ONLY 30 MINUTES!!!! You can't beat that!! It's 6 days a week, 7 if you choose to do Dynamix instead of a rest day on Sundays. It's divided into 3 Blocks so track my progress as I will be posting my Day 30, 60 and 90 Day Photos to see how this program does for me! I'm so excited to be doing this program!! I know it's gonna be challenging. I will definitely MISS Shaun T, but I think Tony Horton is crazy weird but will keep me in check :-)

One of my goals obviously is to gain some healthy mass and muscle definition. It's amazing what results you can achieve if you stick to the program and nutrition plan. So I cannot wait to see the changes. Another one of my goals is to be able to do at least 10 unassisted pull-ups by the end of the 90 Day Challenge! It would be awesome if it were more than 10 and I totally smoke my goals!! Those were always my weakest and I'm ready to push myself.

I'll try to update as much as I can while I progress through this program!!

Here are my Day 1 Photos and I'm hoping to build some healthy mass in the process!! Please continue to follow me in my fitness journey!

My starting STATs:
Weight: 95lbs
Chest: 33 inches
Waist: 23 inches

Shakeology 3 Day Cleanse

So after carbo loading for the Marathon the whole week prior to the race, I definitely felt BLOATED! I mean, I did enjoy eating all those carbs, don't get me wrong. BUT it definitely made me cranky and tired. My stomach felt horrible and I just couldn't go #2 if you know what I mean. So I wanted to start p90x3 feeling great and what a better time to start the 3 DAY SHAKEOLOGY CLEANSE!!!

So here's how it works:

I followed this bad boy schedule for 3 Days straight!

Day 1
Started off strong! Woke up feeling determined and wanted to see how this 3 Day Cleanse was going to affect me. I of course took my before photos of my abs, because I just wanted to see a difference for myself. Started off with a cup of green tea. LOVE green tea! I use the Matcha Green Tea and I use it in my Teavana teapot. Love that tea store by the way. Did Speed 1.0 Workout from T25 because I still wanted to in cooperate some cardio into my day because I go crazy if I don't get a workout in. Surprisingly I felt fully recovered from my marathon.
Breakfast- Shakeology with water and half a banana. Was nervous how I was gonna take not having my almond milk for my shakeology, but it still tasted delicious! I use Vegan Chocolate in mine.
Snack- Apple
Lunch- Shakeology with water
Snack- Shakeology with water
Dinner- Mixed salad of spinach, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, green onions and soy protein. (you can have chicken or a white fish 4oz for you salad). I did use a garlic peppercorn dressing which is allowed!
Water- I drank 4L total :-)
I did get hungry between my afternoon snack and dinner and I was totally looking forward to my salad for dinner and it never tasted better!!!

DAY 2
Woke up early at 6am feeling great! I felt rejuvenated, not bloated and my weight went down 1.6lbs! Had my cup of green tea, did Speed, 2.0 and repeated the rest of my day from yesterday. Definitely was little bit more hungry in the afternoon and again looked forward to my salad once again. I added carrots this time :-) I did go to bed earlier tonight because I was little bit tired but I still did feel great. The portion of the salad is really good and I added more veggies so that I can just get more full. My palate I can tell has changed a little bit and the 4oz of protein was just enough to get me satisfied. Really ready to finish off Day 3 STRONG!
DAY 3- Hooray for my final day of my cleanse!! Woke up feeling rejuvenated once again and down another 1.4lbs! Did my workout with the husband this time and repeated the day.

HERE ARE MY FINAL RESULTS!!

Total Weight Loss- 3.8lbs
Inches lossed- .75

I felt great waking up waking up today! No more bloat feeling and it's not like I felt starved during this whole time. Of course I was hungry from time to time but I guzzled down my water when I felt hungry. And I was used to eating 2000 calories per day. So in the photos you can see a difference in my lower abs where the bloatiness was happening :-)

Here is the testimonial from my husbands experience with the Shakeology Cleanse:
I have lost the 20 lbs I gained from last year using the T25 program. I've lost an additional 6 lbs with the 3 day Shakeology cleanse. I started this whole journey weighing 160 lbs, and now I'm starting my body building program weighing 136 lbs. The weight that I pack on now will be healthy weight and there is no way I'm going back to my old habits. I feel healthier, stronger, and more energized than ever. In addition, I have been off my acid reflux medication for 4 days now. I was taking 2 Prevacid caps 2x a day, and now because of diet and exercise I've taken nothing. Keep in mind, I've been on meds for this since 2008.

Message me if you are interested in trying this Shakeology cleanse and let's see what kind of results you can get from this!

Atlanta Marathon 2014 COMPLETED!

Full Marathon=Fully Crazy!!! I mean, who wants to run 26.2 miles?! I thought to myself before signing up for this that this would be my 5th marathon to complete and I just remember feeling that sense of accomplishment crossing that finish line. It takes hard work and real mental preparation to get through this! I knew this wasn't gonna be easy being that I've had knee problems already in then past. This was gonna be my husbands 1st marathon so it was gonna be a memorable one! That's one thing to check off his bucket list!

Our training for this marathon was not conventional at all. In the past, my training has usually been 3 shorter runs during the week and 1 long run during the weekend. I usually followed Hal Higdon's plan for marathon training as I was a fan of his being from Chicago. Well we wanted to stick to our commitment of doing T25 during the week and just doing the 1 long run on Sundays. The training was going well until we started having issues with our IT Bands. Well we tried taking it easy and just listening to our bodies. We ran 15 miles no problem but when we hit the 18 and the 20 milers, thats when we started having issues. We made the decision to just rest our bodies so that we would go into the race being injury free.

So we made the 2hr drive to Atlanta nervous but excited at the same time. Went to the packet pickup where the Health Expos are always fun. You get free samples and get to see everyone just excited for race day. We got to see where the finish line was and I just love all the signs welcoming all the race day participants to Atlanta. Makes me feel special and proud to be doing something like this!

We signed up for the VIP package which came with a private tent, pre race breakfast buffet, post race buffet, massages and private port-a-potties!! What a treat because those lines for the bathroom are always pretty long! And the morning was cold, so it was nice to have the warm tent to wait and stretch.

The race began and we started running up the streets all over Atlanta, downtown area first. Me and Ryan started off strong! But around mile 3, Ryan started complaining about his left knee. All of a sudden he started limping and I just knew he was worried. It was the same pain that had been bothering him when we had decided to take a break. I thought to myself, oh man, we're only at mile 3! I looked at him and asked, "what do you want to do." He tried several times to adjust his IT Band strap, stretch a couple of times and continue running. But the pain kept coming back. I saw that he was limping and his face showed how much pain he was. He said "I have to stop." I asked him if it was ok that I continue and that he won't be mad. He didn't want to hold me back so we kissed and he said "good luck."

I continued the rest of the marathon on my own. This was the hardest course I have even been on! I don't remember there being too many flat parts but there were so many uphills! I probably got to mile 13 before I needed to walk a bit up those hills. I later regretted even stopping to walk as my IT Band started to tighten up and made it harder to even start running again. I started continuing with a run/walk. I walked up the more elevated hills and I took advantage of the downhills. It also started raining around Mile 12 and got colder. Not the best conditions but I was happy that I was able to run. The scenery helped to distract me a bit as we went through a neighborhood with very nice houses... more like mansions! There were some funny signs that spectators had made. My favorite was "Run Faster, The Walkers are Coming!" Which was very fitting as The Walking Dead is filmed here near Atlanta and it's also my favorite show. I remember I got to Mile 23 and I was almost in so much pain I thought I was going to have to walk all the way to the finish line. But I kept thinking about my husband. I wanted to finish this for the both of us. This was his first and I was so sad that we weren't together finishing it. I was hoping that he was ok and hoping that he was there to greet me at the finish line. I've seen so many runners of all different ages and sizes and I just knew that I can keep pushing myself to finish. So through the pain in my left knee, I pushed myself to continue to run. It was slow, but I was moving. I finally rounded the corner to the finish line and it was awesome hearing them announce my name as I crossed it! I remembered why I ran. I loved the feeling of finishing knowing that I pushed myself through something that sounds almost impossible.

After crossing the finish line, I was looking for my husband. I checked the VIP tent because that's where we said we'd meet. He wasn't there. I checked all 3 medical tents because I was certain that he was picked up since he was in so much pain. He wasn't there. I went to the hotel to check to see if he was in the room because he didn't have his cellphone on him. He wasn't there. I decided to just wait in the VIP tent and eat because I was hungry. Sorta felt bad but hey, I just finished a marathon lol. Got our checked bags, so I knew he hadn't come to get our bags yet. I was getting more worried thinking what happened to him? I went to the information booths and they told me that he had some times documented so he might still be running! I was so shocked because last time I saw him, he was limping so bad and in so much pain! I then just went to the finish line to watch the rest of the runners cross the finish line. Then all of a sudden, I see Ryan turn that corner and crossed the finish line!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!
He definitely was injured and he was hobbling, but he finished all 26.2 miles! He was so happy and I saw him looking for him and I was just screaming his name. I cannot even begin to tell you how proud I was of my husband. I couldn't believe that he pushed through that pain to complete something he started. He really did set his mind to finish. He told me that he didn't want to disappoint me! I was so proud :-) This was his 1st Marathon and definitely an unforgettable experience!

Lily E's T25 SUCCESS STORY!

I am SO EXCITED to share the results from my 1st Challenger's Experience with T25. Her name is Lily and she's my sister. She's 28 years old, a full-time mother of 2 girls (1.5yrs old and 4yrs old), full-time nurse and full-time wife.

She was never happy about her weight growing up as a kid. I was the older sister and I was always the skinny one and she was always the heavier one. It's not that she wasn't active growing up. She did a lot of active things. She was on the basketball team, dance squad and the track team! But when always compared with me, she was the heavier one. Of course with any adolescent growing up, that affects the way that you view yourself and also your self esteem. Kids can be cruel. She wasn't teased or anything growing up but it still affected her. She went through ups and downs with her weight getting into the fad diets. But nothing ever really stuck.

She then got engaged to Francis, her husband now, and then she really worked hard to drop the pounds before her big day. It did work for the time being and she did lose the weight that she wanted to be able to fit into her dress and she was happy. That had been the skinniest that she had been her whole life! Then after the wedding came the honeymoon. The diet went out the window. Things got lazy and then she got pregnant with her first baby. She was in nursing school at the same time so it was hard to take care of herself and stay healthy. Fastfood items were the best option at that time because time was something that she needed more of. She had the baby, then graduated school and began working as a full-time nurse. Then got pregnant again before being able to lose any weight and gained even more with the 2nd pregnancy.

Fast forward to Dec 2013. I came to visit my family in Chicago for Christmas. I gave her T25 as a present because I've known for a while that she wants to get back into shape. She proceeded to remind me that I had given her Insanity workouts 2 years before and she never completed it. I totally forgot that I had even gotten those for her. So I told her that I had planned on becoming a Beachbody coach because my friend invited me into a challenge group and I wanted to start something new. So I told her that I would be there to support her every step of the way and I will make sure that she successfully completes the program. She told me that she was ready for this and she was committed 100%.

I started the T25 program with her, just 1 week earlier than she did. I was worried at first because I know my sister the best. I love her and everything but man is she stubborn. I knew this was gonna take some work! So the 1st week went by smooth. She did everything fine. Then the motivation and life gets in the way and of course I had to keep checking in a little bit more just to make sure she was staying on track. She did work some long 12 hour shifts that nurses normally worked. So sometimes I would call her to see if she had completed her workout for the day. Of course she'd be mad sometimes because she hadn't even gotten home just yet. But I wanted to be sure. I would always ask her what she's eating and she would call me to see if certain foods or meals were ok.

She was of course in my first challenge group and she was doing AWESOME at participating daily and even starting to motivate all the other challengers as well. I started to see her confidence in herself increase and she was actually excited about doing the workouts! Sometimes she would do more than what the schedule called for! So she completed her 10 WEEK CHALLENGE with T25 successfully and drank Shakeology everyday and ate a clean diet and here are the results!!

Gamma Phase BEGINS

So I have finished the 10 Week Challenge for T25 which included the Alpha Phase and the Beta Phase. What's next?! I do want to start P90x3, but I wanted to wait til next month because I want to really finish T25 through the Gamma Phase. So GAMMA PHASE IT IS!!

Gamma Phase? What is Gamma Phase and how is it different from Alpha and Beta? So Alpha Phase was building your foundation and just helping you build on your cardio. It especially really helps for people to drop weight especially. Beta Phase, some resistance training is added which in turns help to increase more fat burn by adding muscle and still dropping weight. You can make each workout as hard as you want or as easy as you want. They all have great modifiers. Gamma is a different breed and is currently kicking my BUTT!! Not only does it add resistance once again, but it keeps the speed with it. Forget about how people go to the gym and do 10-12 reps of 1 exercise at their own pace. This brings it to a real level in which you have to FOCUS. Here is what you get from the Gamma Workout.

4 Different Workouts (4 weeks)

1) Rip't Up- Strenthen and streamline your biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, and chest with Shaun T's 360º upper body moves.
2) Extreme Circuit- Build lean muscle and burn fat at the same time! In this one, the weights never leave your hands. Not even for the warm up. YUP, he really does make you do heel taps with the weights hanging down. You have tension in your muscles at all times and man does Shaun T make it burn!! It's got weighted burpees and ALL!!
3) The PYRAMID- Accelerate your reps as time progresses. This really tests your strength endurance and this is my HARDEST WORKOUT YET!!! For example, you do 1 squat and then 1 hammer curl. Then you increase and do 2 squats and then 2 hammer curls and so forth until like 8-12 reps sometimes!! Doesn't sound hard right... do it and you'll see! You really get to muscle failure from this workout and I'm determine to NAIL IT by the end of these 4 weeks.
4) Speed 3.0- Faster pace, more sweat and just PLAIN INSANE! Makes Speed 1.0 and Speed 2.0 look like babies. Just when you think he made you do enough moves, that was only level 1! and then he just keeps adding more moves. By the end, I feel like jello. Gets you dripping and really works. Hopefully you have coordination and speed for this one to keep up.
)

Check out my progress, I am almost finished with Week 1 of the Gamma Phase :-)

T25 10 Week Final Transformation

I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT I HAVE NAILED THE T25 10 WEEK CHALLENGE!!!!

T25 is a 10 week program created by Shaun T! The program is split up into Alpha Phase for the 1st 5 weeks and then Beta Phase, the 2nd 5 weeks. Each workout was 25 minutes only. So you really had no excuses to use to not do these workouts. It was 25 minutes Monday through Friday, with the exception of Friday which was double workout days to maximize your results. If you couldn't squeeze in that 2nd 25 minute workout, it was OK to do it Saturday.

I joined this challenge not only to get more toned, more specifically my abdominal area, but I wanted to get my blood pressure in check. I have a family history of Hyptertension from both my mom and dad and I wanted to avoid medications at all cost. I had just finished training and running a marathon and my blood pressure was still hovering in the 140s/100s! Unbelievable I thought to myself. I'm not even overweight, I'm young and active. Maybe my diet could have been better but I really wasn't eating too horribly. So my goal for this challenge was to see my blood pressure drop to normal 120/80 would make me happy.

I joined a challenge group and I joined right off the bat as a Beachbody coach. I mainly joined so that I can get the discount, but I was intrigued by the business aspect as well. So I figured, I can do my challenge, get fit and learn about the business. So the requirements of the challenge was a workout program through Beachbody (my T25), drinking Shakeology once a day (its delicious by the way) and clean eating diet. I changed to vegetarian for personal preference because I read a lot of the bad stuff about animal products. And all I would have to do was post to these challenge groups daily and check in daily to make myself accountable and to cheer everybody on.

As soon as I started the program, I felt an immediate change in energy and mood. I felt more positive. I was waking up early to do my workouts. I found myself getting motivation from my challenge groups to get up and do the workouts because they were counting on me to do my part so we can all succeed. I wasn't drinking coffee anymore because the Shakeology was taking care of my cravings! No more headaches, no more crashes mid afternoon. I felt amazing!

Fast forward 10 weeks and here are my results!!
